Principal

Davids Darzins is a Solicitor with more than 30 years’ experience.  He has worked on a wide range of commercial, property, taxation and trusts matters.  Davids Darzins has over 20 years’ experience in film, television and media financing, securities and production work.  He has worked in small and large commercial law firms in Melbourne CBD.  His main grounding in the areas of property, commercial and banking & finance law were gained in large law firms, on which he has built a deep skill set in commercial and intellectual property law.

He has been in-house Corporate Solicitor with one of Australia’s largest banks, for its Plain English Securities, Code of Banking Practice and Consumer Credit Code implementation projects.  This has given him practical insight and experience in internal bank operations and decision making.

Davids Darzins holds Bachelor degrees in Economics and Law from the Adelaide University in South Australia and a Master of Law degree from the University of Melbourne.

He is an Accredited Specialist in Property Law with the Law Institute of Victoria since the specialisation scheme was introduced in 1994.  He is currently the convenor of the Law Institute of Victoria Accredited Property Law Specialists Study Group.

He is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.  He is also a member of the Law Institute of Victoria and the Law Society of South Australia.

Davids Darzins established Darzins Legal in 2009 and is the Principal of the Law Firm.

Davids Darzins has a strong commitment to community.  He was a Councillor on the Unley City Council in South Australia for two terms.  He was a Board Member of the World Federation of Free Latvians Inc for 13 years, which is the peak organisation for all Latvian organisations outside Latvia.  He was the National President of the Latvian Federation of Australia and New Zealand for 3 years from 2006 to 2009, more recently was the Chairman of the Federation’s Cultural Foundation and now continues on the Federation’s Advisory Committee.  He was a Board Member for 20 years and Chairman for 10 years of the Latvian Educational Advancement Cooperative Society Limited, which owns and operates an educational facility used by the Latvian summer school and other community organisations, church groups, schools and University student associations.  He is a founding member, and is currently President, of the Australian Baltic Chamber of Commerce.

Davids is married to Liga, and they have three children.
